Welcome:

Tucked away among quiet rivers, estuaries, and salt marshes, the lucky waterman may find the Barbour River Yacht Club.  Ancient live oaks guard the old settlement of Goulds Landing on Harris Neck, and the club is immediately adjacent to the Harris Neck Wildlife Refuge.  A better headquarters for saltwater fishing and boating is hard to imagine. Sapelo Sound is only minutes away in your boat via the Barbour River, and the Atlantic is just beyond. A few more minutes of crossing the Sound brings you to Sapelo and Blackbeard Islands. Maybe you will find the old pirate’s missing treasure trove – if you explore the “boneyard.”

The membership firmly believes that a bad day on the water beats a good day anywhere else. However, the club sports a free lending library in its cozy clubhouse for those few days that challenge the brave and bold.

Launching is “no charge” and “do it yourself” with twin 3 ton electric hoists. Friendly member and manager assistance is available when needed. Boats from thirteen to thirty-two feet are regularly committed to the waters for wonderful days of cruising and fishing.

Covered and open boat storage is available for members needing to leave their boats on land at the club.

Three experienced technicians work nearby and are available for unexpected equipment shortfalls – even on the water.
